VANS Metaphor Advertisement

It would be impossible for me to express my absolute love for Vans shoes, so I’ll do it in a metaphor design :) Vans have been a Southern California staple since 1966, where they were first produced in Anaheim, CA. Vans not only has a Southern California presence, but also a presence all over the country and the world. Vans has also become synonymous with skateboarding, surfing, and laid back beach culture.

My intention is to have the designs present as sets. You could buy one magazine and see one advertisement and buy another magazine and see a completely different advertisement. The same goes for the billboard advertisement. You could see one billboard in California and see a completely different advertisement on the other side of the country, etc.

The horizontal advertisements presented would be on billboards, buses, etc. They are less complex and easier to read at a glance. The vertical advertisements would be used in magazine or poster advertisements.

90’s inspired Peace, Love, Happiness, and Skate Theme (Horizontal). You could literally put anything Vans (Love)=Anything. It is versatile to customize depending on the place and setting. The Vans shoes are placed in a way to represent a heart (love) and expose that iconic waffle sole.
